RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has bolstered its men’s basketball squad for the 2026 Asian Games by adding four seasoned players to the national training camp, enhancing depth as the team also prepares for the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 pre‑qualifiers.

The Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) has called up Brandon Jawato and Vincent Kosasih from Pelita Jaya Jakarta, Abraham Damar Grahita of Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung, and Lester Prosper of Dewa United Banten.

"They will join and train with the men's national team prepared for the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 pre-qualifiers," men's 5x5 national team manager Rivaldo Tandra said in Jakarta on Monday, August 10, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Under the call-up letter, the four players have begun training with the squad on Monday, August 10. The team has been preparing for the pre-qualifiers since August 3, at Dewa United Arena in Tangerang, Banten, under head coach David Singleton.

Perbasi had previously called up 19 players for the training camp. Singleton will remain head coach for both the pre-qualifiers and the 2026 Asian Games, allowing the team to maintain continuity in its preparations.

Perbasi has also appointed Arif Hidayat from the East Java branch of Perbasi as a player development coach. "In the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 pre-qualifiers, we will assess the depth of our local players, while for the 2026 Asian Games, Perbasi will call up more senior and experienced players," Rivaldo added.

The FIBA Asia Cup 2029 pre-qualifiers are scheduled for August 24 to September 1, 2026. The first round of the pre-qualifiers will be held in Seremban, Malaysia. Indonesia is in Group C with Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Meanwhile, the 2026 Asian Games will run from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Indonesia is in Group A alongside South Korea, Japan and Saudi Arabia. ***
