RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) has reaffirmed its support for the President of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, amid a leadership crisis facing him. The statement was published on PSSI's social media accounts on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
"PSSI reaffirms its continued support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino and its commitment to strengthening collaboration with FIFA and all Member Associations to advance football development in Indonesia and around the world," the association said, as monitored by RRI Voice of Indonesia in Jakarta.
In an official statement accompanying the post, PSSI said it "appreciates President Gianni Infantino's continued commitment to fostering unity across the global football community, advancing the development of football, and strengthening all FIFA Member Associations." The association added that Indonesia has experienced firsthand the positive impact of FIFA's initiatives under his leadership.
According to PSSI, FIFA's programs in Indonesia have translated the organization's global mission into tangible progress in the country's football development. The association expressed its intention to continue working constructively with FIFA and its member associations to promote the growth of football worldwide.

"It is this record, and the trust it has built, that underpinned PSSI's continued support for President Infantino and for a FIFA that remains, first and foremost, an institution in service of all its Member Associations," PSSI said.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of PSSI, Erick Thohir, said FIFA's guidance and support have helped accelerate the transformation of Indonesian football. As a result, Indonesia has been entrusted with hosting world-class tournaments, including the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023, the FIFA Series 2026, and the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026.
"With the strong collaboration and trust that have been built over the years, we at PSSI declare our support for Gianni Infantino to lead FIFA for another term," Erick said on his Instagram account on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
FIFA has come under intense scrutiny after Infantino proposed selling a stake in the FIFA World Cup to private investors, which was later canceled. Several regional football associations have condemned the proposal, with some even calling for Infantino to step down as FIFA president.
