Janice, partnering China's Zhang Shuai, rallied from a set down to defeat Japan's Miyu Kato and Mexico's Giuliana Olmos 4-6, 6-2, 10-0 in the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, July 30, 2026, local time.
The pair secured their place in the semifinals after a one-hour, 19-minute contest, according to the WTA. Facing the experienced Kato/Olmos duo, Janice/Zhang dropped the opening set after their opponents claimed the final two games to seal it 6-4, Antara reported.
The third seeds responded strongly in the second set, taking control early by converting two service breaks before leveling the match with a convincing 6-2 win.
The match was decided in a super tie-break, where Janice/Zhang delivered a flawless performance, winning all 10 consecutive points without allowing their opponents to score, sealing a dominant 10-0 victory and advancing to the last four.
According to WTA statistics, Janice/Zhang fired three aces while their opponents recorded none. They also won 67 of the 122 total points played and converted four of their 12 break-point opportunities.
The victory extended Janice/Zhang's winning run after they defeated Kamilla Rakhimova/Fang-Hsien Wu in straight sets in the second round.
