RRI.CO.ID, Changzhou - Indonesia claimed its first BWF World Tour Super 1000 title of 2026 through its men's doubles pair. Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri defeated South Korea's Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae, the world number one men's doubles pair in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings, at the China Open in Changzhou, China, on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Fajar and Fikri secured a 16-21, 21-19, 21-19 comeback victory after a hard-fought three-game final. The triumph also marked their second consecutive China Open title after winning the tournament last year.

The achievement delivered Indonesia's first Super 1000 title this year and strengthened the country's momentum before the BWF World Championships. It also marked a strong response after the pair's disappointing result at the Indonesia Open earlier this season.

Fajar expressed gratitude after helping Indonesia secure its first Super 1000 title this year. He said defeating the world's top-ranked pair and defending the title were memorable achievements.

"We thank Allah for giving us a smooth journey, victory, and the best result at this China Open. Defending our title here means back-to-back championships after Japan Open last week. Thank you to everyone who has always supported us. Today's match was not easy against the world number one pair." he said.

He also thanked Fikri for covering every part of the court during the demanding final. He hopes the victory motivates more Indonesian men's doubles pairs to compete consistently at the highest level.

Fikri credited Fajar for guiding him throughout the final instead of criticizing his mistakes. He said the encouragement helped him stay focused despite their declining physical condition.

"Honestly, I did not feel i covered for Fajar today. Instead, I felt he guided me throughout the match. Whenever I made mistakes, he never complained or judged me. He always lifted my spirit, making me feel less tired. Our condition had already declined, but this was the final, so we had to push ourselves. Thank God, these past two weeks have been extraordinary." Fikri said.

He also said the China Open victory boosted their confidence before the BWF World Championships. He added the pair would immediately begin intensive preparations after returning home.
