RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s U18 women’s basketball team demonstrated not only dominance but also squad depth as they crushed Oman 127–6 in their opening Group A match at the FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup 2026 Division B in Bangkok, Thailand, on Monday, July 13, 2026.
The Red-and-White seized control from the start, closing the first quarter 34–1 as Oman struggled against Indonesia’s tight defense, Antara reported. By halftime, the margin had ballooned to 70–3, thanks to the fast-paced play orchestrated by head coach Fredy.
Indonesia’s discipline on both ends of the court continued into the third quarter, stretching the lead to 94–6. In the final period, the team added 33 unanswered points, sealing one of the most lopsided victories in tournament history.
Beyond the scoreline, the match highlighted Indonesia’s ability to rotate players effectively while maintaining intensity. This depth will be crucial as the team prepares for tougher Group A opponents: India and host Thailand.
Coach Fredy earlier stressed that training sessions were designed to sharpen strategies developed during the SEABA qualifiers.
The emphatic victory shows those adjustments are taking effect, boosting Indonesia’s confidence as they target a top-three group finish to secure a quarterfinal berth and keep their Division A promotion hopes alive.
The FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup Division B runs from July 13–19, offering Indonesia a chance to prove its consistency against stronger regional rivals. ***
