RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's Aldila Sutjiadi described her triumph at the 2026 Bad Homburg Open, a WTA 500 grass-court tournament in Germany and one of the final warm-up events before Wimbledon, as one of the most meaningful achievements of her career, after capturing her first Women's Tennis Association (WTA) 500 doubles title and ending a lengthy wait for a trophy at that level.

Aldila and her Russian partner Vera Zvonareva secured the title at the Bad Homburg Open, by defeating third-seeded Dutch-Australian pair Demi Schuurs and Ellen Perez 6-1, 4-6, 10-5 in Saturday's final, June 27, 2026. "I am definitely very happy to win my first WTA 500 title. After a long time without winning a WTA 250 or WTA 500 tournament, this is a very valuable title for me," Aldila said via instant message on Sunday, June 28, as quoted by Antara.

The trophy marked the end of a long wait for the 31-year-old Indonesian, who had not lifted a WTA 250 or WTA 500 title in recent seasons. Aldila admitted that results this year had not fully met her expectations, but she remained confident that her hard work would eventually pay off.

"This year hasn't produced the results I wanted, but I kept believing that my hard work would be rewarded. Thank God, I finally won the title in Bad Homburg," she said.

According to Aldila, consistency was one of the keys to her success. She maintained a high level of play throughout the tournament and believed she delivered her best performance in the final.

"My level was quite consistent throughout the week, from the first round to the final. I felt that I played better in the final than in the earlier rounds," she continued.

She also credited her growing partnership with former world No. 2 Vera Zvonareva, saying their chemistry improved with every match and helped boost her confidence.

"My chemistry with Vera improved in every match. You could say my confidence also increased match by match," she added.

Despite claiming her maiden WTA 500 title, Aldila said the achievement has only strengthened her ambition to win more trophies at even higher levels. "This is my first title, so of course I want to win more titles and compete successfully in even bigger WTA tournaments," she further said.

Before her breakthrough in Bad Homburg, Aldila had collected six WTA 250 doubles titles. Her first came in Bogota in 2022 alongside Astra Sharma. Her career gained momentum in 2023 when she won WTA 250 titles in Cleveland and Auckland with Miyu Kato, as well as the Austin title with Erin Routliffe.

In 2024, she added another WTA 250 crown in Thailand with Kato. A year later, Aldila won the WTA 250 Chennai title with fellow Indonesian Janice Tjen before the pair captured the women's doubles gold medal at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games. ***
