RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - After a triumphant domestic run, Indonesian volleyball sensation Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi is officially returning to the South Korean V-League to join the prestigious Hyundai Hillstate for the 2026/2027 season.

"I will give my best so that the team can lift the championship trophy with a more mature performance upon my return to the V-League," Megawati stated in a report by Korean media outlet Daum, as monitored in Jakarta on Monday, May 11, 2026, Antara reported.

The Suwon-based powerhouse confirmed her arrival via their official social media accounts, marking one of the most significant transfers in Asian volleyball this year.

"Megawati has joined the Hyundai Hillstate volleyball team; we sincerely welcome you," the club management announced, officially filling their Asian player quota slot with the Jember-born star.

Megawati’s return to South Korea follows a spectacular performance in Indonesia, where she recently led Jakarta Pertamina Enduro to the Proliga 2026 title.

Rumors regarding this high-profile move had intensified after Hyundai Hillstate head coach Kang Sung-hyung was spotted scouting her in person during the Proliga finals at GOR Among Rogo, Yogyakarta, in late April.

Expressing her pride in joining a club with such a decorated history, the athlete affectionately known as "Megatron" noted the significance of this new chapter.

"I feel honored to be able to play for a strong and historic team like Hyundai Hillstate," Megawati remarked while emphasizing her readiness to contribute immediately to the squad.

This transfer marks the second period of her international career in the "Land of the Morning Calm" after a legendary two-season stint with the Red Sparks from 2023 to 2025.

During her previous tenure, she became a fan favorite by leading her team to the playoffs in her first year and reaching the grand finals in her second.

Her aggressive offensive style and consistent competitive mentality have not only earned her a special place in the hearts of Korean fans but also paved the way for other Indonesian athletes in elite Asian leagues.

At Hyundai Hillstate, she is projected to be a primary offensive pillar alongside American recruit Jordan Wilson, who was introduced by the club earlier this year. Coach Kang Sung-hyung expressed great optimism about the signing, citing Megawati's proven track record as a top-tier foreign player in the league.

"Mega is a player whose quality is already proven in the league; her presence not only strengthens our attacking power but will also greatly assist in the implementation of the team's strategies," he explained.

With their foreign player roster now complete, Coach Kang will begin intensive preparations to chase a fourth title for the historic Suwon club. Hyundai Hillstate previously secured the South Korean league championship in the 2010/2011, 2015/2016, and 2023/2024 seasons, and they now look to Megawati to help them return to the top of the podium.. ***
