RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian women’s field hockey national team is targeting victory over Singapore in a decisive Pool B match of the 2026 Asian Games qualifiers. The match will take place at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Head coach Muhamad Dhaarma Raj emphasized that winning remains the team’s top priority, noting that the result will affect Indonesia’s world ranking.
“The match against Singapore will only determine the Pool B champion, and regardless of the result, we will still advance to the semifinals. However, we are aiming for victory because it can help us earn points and improve our world ranking,” Dhaarma said.
He also reflected on Indonesia’s recent record against Singapore, noting that while Indonesia has won its last two encounters, those results cannot serve as a benchmark.
“At the TC Games, we won 4-0, and at the Hong Kong Tournament, we won 5-1. But these victories cannot be taken as a reference, because Singapore was the IF Cup champions in Jakarta in 2025,” he explained.
Dhaarma added that the coaching staff has thoroughly analyzed Singapore’s style of play, with evaluations conducted based on Indonesia’s two previous matches.
Meanwhile, Indonesia’s potential semifinal opponent remains uncertain, as competition in Pool A is still tight.
Chinese Taipei and Bangladesh both have four points, while Hong Kong trails with three heading into the final group stage matches. Hong Kong will face Bangladesh, while Chinese Taipei will take on Uzbekistan. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
