RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Esports Association (ESI) has awarded a IDR 250 million bonus to Indonesia’s women’s national Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team following their victory at the IESF World Esports Championship 2025.
ESI Chairman Bambang Sunarwibawa said the reward reflects appreciation for the athletes’ consistent achievements in elevating Indonesia’s reputation internationally.
“This achievement was not obtained instantly, but through a long process, from training to rigorous selection,” he said during the award ceremony in Jakarta on Thursday, April 16, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
He added that the team has demonstrated dominance over the years, including winning the world title in 2022 and successfully defending it in subsequent editions.
Bambang emphasized that such success is supported by collaboration with strategic partners, including game developers and publishers, which help build Indonesia’s esports ecosystem.
ESI plans to further strengthen athlete development through domestic and international competitions, as well as centralized training programs to maintain performance.
Player Viorelle Valencia Chen said the bonus would serve as motivation for the team to continue excelling.
“This bonus will definitely motivate us moving forward, to keep doing what we always do, being the best in the women’s Mobile Legends scene in Indonesia and making the country proud,” she said.
Her teammate Venny Lim echoed the sentiment, noting that consistent rewards also demand consistent performance. “Since the bonuses are given regularly and consistently, we must also remain consistent,” she said.
Indonesia’s esports growth was further highlighted by the Free Fire World Series Global Finals 2025 in Jakarta, which set a Guinness World Record as the largest team-based mobile esports tournament.
Garena Indonesia Country Head Hans Saleh praised the strong community support and reaffirmed commitment to advancing esports in the country. “We believe this achievement is just the beginning of a bigger step to bring esports to the next level,” he said.
ESI expressed hope that continued support from stakeholders will enable Indonesia to achieve even greater success in global esports competitions. ***
