RRI.CO.ID, Jakata - Indonesia’s presence in the 2026 Asia Road Racing Championship got off to a strong start, with rider Herjun Atna Firdaus securing a podium finish in the opening race at Sepang Circuit, Malaysia on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
Herjun, representing the Astra Honda Racing Team (AHRT), finished third in the first Supersport 600 (SS600) race of the championship. He delivered a consistent performance, maintaining his rhythm in the leading group while competing against six other riders.
Entering the final two laps, he was involved in a tight battle for the podium, which paid off with a third-place finish. “I am happy to achieve third place," Herjun said after the race, as quoted by Antara.
"Tomorrow we will try some improvements. This is a good result for the start of the 2026 racing season and very important early points,” he added.
Herjun started the race from fourth position, while his teammate Fadillah Arbi Aditama began from 10th on the grid. However, Fadillah Arbi finished in sixth place, a solid result considering it was his debut in the SS600 class.
Meanwhile, in the Asia Production 250 (AP250) class, another Indonesian rider Rheza Danica Ahrens secured pole position, while compatriot Muhammad Badly Ayatullah started from the sixth row.
During the race, Rheza, who was contending for a podium finish, eventually crossed the line in fifth place. Badly crashed while battling for a top-three position.
In the Asia Superbike (ASB) 1000 class, M Adenanta Putra qualified in fifth position, providing a strong foundation for a competitive debut round. On his debut in the ASB1000 class, riding a CBR1000RR-R, he delivered an impressive performance by finishing seventh out of 15 riders. ***
