RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Jayden Daniel Candra, an Indonesian citizen, has shown extraordinary talent in the sport of Wushu. He is an accomplished athlete who has received numerous awards in various Wushu competitions across the United States.

He was born in the United States on March 16, 2012. Jayden is the first son of Ricky Candra (Father) and Anyun (Mother). He is grade 8 at Canarelli Middle School, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Then, he took his first steps onto the Wushu mat in March 2018 alongside his younger brother, Jonathan Darren Candra. At a very young age (6 years old), he received strong support from his parents to study, train, and seriously pursue Wushu.

Wushu is a traditional Chinese martial art that combines aesthetic movement with physical strength, often referred to as the “art of war.” Jayden lives in Las Vegas with his younger brother and parents. “My parents strongly support me in pursuing Wushu,” Jayden said.

His loving parents are deeply committed to supporting his development in Wushu. They diligently accompany him during training sessions at Las Vegas Modern Kungfu with his coach, Zengjiao Jian, who is often called Sifu JJ.

Jayden has shown a deep interest in and enjoyment of every Wushu movement, even though it is not easy for someone like his age to perform.

In addition, he believes this was a simple decision that will one day take him across continents. Through Wushu, Jayden understands that every technique he practices requires exhausting repetition, yet holds deep meaning.

“Wushu teaches me that no movement becomes perfect without thousands of attempts, and every failure in training is the most honest teacher,” Jayden conveyed, in an official statement received by RRI VOI on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

During his journey in Wushu, Jayden became a Grand Champion in Orlando in 2021. His dedication reached new heights when he won first place in several categories in Rockville, Maryland, USA, in late December 2025.

His perseverance, discipline, consistency, and passion for Wushu also earned him an elite position at the 2026 World Wushu Junior Championships held in Tianjin, China, in March 2026.

According to him, the podium is only a temporary stop. He believes the essence of martial arts lies in character transformation beyond the arena.

“When holding a double dagger, broadsword, or staff, I learn that true strength is not in the force of a strike, but in how flexibly we adapt to the rhythm of our opponent and circumstances,” he mentioned.

Through mastering complex techniques, Jayden realizes that life is like Kungfu. According to him, Kungfu, Wushu, and other martial arts are a balance between hard work and the ability to let go of the final outcome.

Meanwhile, Jayden’s uncle, Rahman Tamin, also known as a member of the Honorary Council of Wushu DKI Jakarta stated that intense Wushu training fosters a calm and adaptive mindset, enabling one to remain composed amid competition pressure and daily life dynamics.

Rahman further conveyed that whenever Jayden visits Indonesia, he trains at a Training Center “Sasana Wushu Rajawali Sakti” owned by Herman Wijaya.

“Winning is a bonus. Becoming a person who doesn’t give up easily and remains humble after falling that is the true victory. Thank God, Jayden has developed that mindset,” Rahman conveyed.

Besides, Jayden proves that Wushu is the art of shaping oneself to remain strong yet flexible, flowing like a river through life. To date, Jayden has collected 23 prestigious titles, including 14 first-place finishes from Grand Champion in Orlando to sweeping gold medals in Toronto.

His achievements are further enhanced by six silver medals from competitions in China and Malaysia, as well as one bronze medal, including his latest at the 2026 World Junior Championships.

“Right now, school and Wushu training are my priorities to achieve higher accomplishments in future sports events,” Jayden said.

In Indonesia’s Wushu scene, Jayden is not a new figure. He previously performed at the opening ceremony attended by Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo, at the 8th World Junior Wushu Championship in 2022.

Jayden hopes,“My current and future goal is to win a gold medal at the world championship.” He hopes that one day he will return to Indonesia and represent the country in international Wushu competitions.

In Open Virtual Wushu championship of Central Java Governor, he gained 1st place Traditional Hand Form (Ditangquan),1st place Traditional Short Weapon (Double Dagger), and Award for Male Favourite Athlete Chosen by All Judges.
