RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s top racer Sean Gelael is set to headline the country’s participation at the GT World Challenge Asia 2026, marking his competitive debut at the Mandalika circuit after an impressive private test session.

Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) Director Priandhi Satria confirmed that Indonesia’s leading driver Sean Gelael will compete in the GT World Challenge Asia 2026 Indonesia round.

Sean will take on the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Mandalika, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, from May 1-3, 2026.

“Sean is coming. He is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, April 8, on Thursday, April 9, he will train on his own. From Friday to Sunday he will compete,” Priandhi told reporters in Jakarta on Monday, April 6, as quoted by Antara.

Sean previously tested the Mandalika circuit privately in late March, completing several trial runs. The 24 Hours of Le Mans champion recorded an impressive lap time of 1 minute 33.532 seconds during the session.

That result is expected to serve as valuable preparation for his debut at Mandalika, a track he has described on several occasions as having characteristics similar to Austria’s Red Bull Ring.

Priandhi also confirmed that world-class drivers will compete in the second edition of the GT World Challenge Asia in Indonesia. “There will be several different drivers. The cars will also be the 2026 versions. So in terms of excitement, GT3 is always exciting,” he said.

A total of 23 race cars and 46 drivers from 17 countries will participate in the event. ***
