RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian Moto2 rider Mario Suryo Aji will line up from 19th position at the United States Grand Prix 2026 after narrowly missing out on advancing to Q2 in qualifying at the Circuit of the Americas, Austin, Texas, United States, on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Mario Aji finished fifth in Q1, just one spot outside the cut-off for progression, Antara reported. His best lap time of 2 minutes 06.594 seconds left him only 0.385 seconds adrift of the top four, with Spanish rider Aron Canet edging him out by roughly three-tenths of a second.
The Q1 session was briefly halted by a red flag following an incident at Turn 5. Once resumed, Mario Aji showed competitive pace and kept his chances alive, but he was unable to improve on his final lap to break into the qualifying zone.
Advancing from Q1 were Daniel Holgado, Angel Piqueras, Alex Escrig, and Aron Canet. At the front of the grid, David Alonso secured pole position with a time of 2:05.203, followed closely by Barry Baltus and Alonso Lopez.
With the result, Mario Aji will begin Sunday’s race from the seventh row.
