RRI.CO.ID, Basel - Indonesian women’s singles shuttler player Putri Kusuma Wardani has secured her spot in the final of the Swiss Open 2026 after a commanding semifinal victory over Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara.

Competing at St. Jakobshalle, Basel, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, Putri defeated the 2017 World Champion in straight games, 21-16, 21-13. This victory marks Putri’s first final appearance of the year and serves as a significant breakthrough after several recent tournament exits in the quarterfinal stages.

Putri entered the match with a clear strategy to counter Okuhara’s legendary defensive resilience and speculative shots. Recognizing that the Japanese veteran was waiting to exploit her attacks, Putri adjusted her pace after the interval to favor safety and endurance.

“From the start, I was ready to get tired because against Okuhara, it’s not easy to finish the point and she has very good speculative shots,” Putri said in an official release from PP PBSI.

By shifting to a patient, long-rally game, Putri forced Okuhara into making unforced errors. “After the interval, I tried to play safer, playing long and with many rallies so that she committed many errors herself,” she explained.
