RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Former Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong returned to Jakarta on Friday, February 20, 2026, sharing his joy at reconnecting with local football fans while also offering advice to young players on maintaining peak performance.
Speaking at a press conference organized by an anti-dandruff shampoo brand in South Jakarta, Shin said Indonesia always brings him happiness. “Indonesia makes me happy, because of the achievements, and because football fans and the wider community love me. Every time I come here, I feel that joy,” he remarked, as quoted by Antara.
The South Korean coach, who led Indonesia for five years and came close to securing a spot at the 2024 Olympics, stressed that discipline is the foundation of professional football. He advised players to pay close attention to diet and daily routines off the pitch.
“You can’t just take things lightly. From food to everyday activities, everything must be truly professional,” he said.
Shin added that players who neglect discipline may only be fit for casual local matches. “The foundation must be built properly, with the right process. I truly believe Indonesian football will continue to grow beyond where it is today,” he noted.
His visit coincided with the brand's launch of the Clear Men Ultra Squad program, aimed at discovering and nurturing Indonesia’s best young football talent. The initiative will select 50 top participants, who will then compete for 11 exclusive scholarships to the STY Academy.
The brand also announced its role as an Official Sponsor of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. As part of its National Promo campaign, the brand introduced the Ultra Challenge and Ultra Promo programs, offering consumers the chance to win tickets to the tournament. ***
