RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian mixed doubles shuttlers Jafar Hidayatullah and Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu fell short of reaching the final of the BWF World Tour Super 500 Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2026 after a hard-fought semifinal loss at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

The home pair lost 22-20, 19-21, 17-21 to Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Bøje in a one-hour, nine-minute rubber game, with changing court conditions proving decisive.

The defeat was particularly disappointing as Jafar and Felisha had controlled large parts of the match, especially in the deciding game, before a shift in conditions gradually disrupted their rhythm.

“We actually had our chances, but we failed to capitalize on them. We were under a lot of pressure and felt uncomfortable, especially after the court conditions changed,” Felisha said after the match, as quoted by Antara.

Jafar and Felisha played aggressively in the opening game and remained composed at crucial moments to edge out a 22-20 win, despite strong resistance from the Danish pair.

Momentum shifted in the second game as Christiansen and Bøje tightened their play and forced a series of unforced errors from the Indonesians. Although Jafar and Felisha rallied to level the score at 17-17, they eventually dropped the game 19-21.

The Indonesians looked firmly in control in the decider after opening a commanding 11-4 lead at the interval. However, they were unable to maintain the advantage as the Danish pair mounted a comeback.

Felisha said a change in wind direction after the court switch made it difficult to control their shots. “After changing courts, it became hard to maintain control. They had the wind advantage and sped up the tempo, while we struggled to attack,” she said.

With the momentum firmly on their side, Christiansen and Bøje played with greater composure to close out the deciding game 21-17 and secure a place in the final.

Jafar said their overall performance was solid but acknowledged that sustained pressure from the opponents affected their execution. “In terms of play, it was quite good, but the pressure made us hesitate when opening the rally,” he said.

The semifinal exit fell short of Jafar and Felisha’s personal targets, but the pair said they would use the result as an evaluation ahead of upcoming tournaments, particularly in dealing with pressure and adapting to unfavorable court and wind conditions. ***
