- Strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation is a key strategy for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in achieving Indonesia's national interests.
RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir affirmed that national interests are his top priority. He said that Indonesia will continue to contribute to maintaining regional stability and international peace.
This role, he noted, is carried out through the strengthening of cooperation and multilateralism. "Naturally, we will continue to prioritize matters of national interest," he said after his inauguration at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
He highlighted Indonesia's commitment to regional stability and global peace. This commitment is reflected in Indonesia's plan to bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations (UN) Security Council for the 2029–2030 term.
"This further demonstrates Indonesia's readiness to play an active role in maintaining peace and security, as well as advancing multilateralism," he said.
He says Indonesia's foreign policy is continuous and rooted in clear principles. Changes in leadership won't alter its fundamental basis.
"We are also grateful that Indonesia's foreign policy remains consistent. So, regardless of who serves as Foreign Minister, the reference point is clear: the law," he said.
He added that the principle of a free and active foreign policy remains Indonesia's guiding framework for relations with other nations. "Our foreign policy is clear—free and active—as the President has often stated," said Minister Arrmanatha.
On October 1, 2026, President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir as Minister of Foreign Affairs, succeeding Sugiono, the previous minister, who transitioned to the role of Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (PMK). (Misni Parjiati-EN)
