Business Literacy Equips Creative Talent for Post-Disaster Recovery

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency, ensures that post-disaster recovery focuses not only on restoring physical conditions but also on business continuity and the livelihoods of the community. This commitment was demonstrated by holding a Business Literacy session for creative economy practitioners in Padang Pariaman Regency on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Organized by the Deputy for Strategic Development of the Creative Economy through the Directorate of Access to Funding, Financing, and Investment, the event was attended by 50 creative economy practitioners. The activity is part of an effort to support recovery while strengthening the business capacity of creative economy practitioners affected by the disaster. Participants received training to enhance their business and financial literacy, as well as information on support available for business development.

“Creative economy practitioners must be part of the recovery process. We want them not only to resume business operations but also to possess the capacity to grow and remain resilient,” the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya said.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Padang Pariaman, John Kenedy Azis, expressed appreciation for the support and collaboration of various parties in assisting the recovery of creative economy practitioners in the region.

“Community economic recovery requires collective effort. We hope this activity serves as a tangible step toward helping creative economy practitioners bounce back and resume developing their businesses,” John said.

Echoing this sentiment, Director of Access to Funding, Financing, and Investment at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Anggara Hayun Anujuprana, emphasized the importance of strengthening business capacity during the post-disaster recovery process.

“Business recovery is not merely about resuming sales; it is also about ensuring creative economy players possess the knowledge and readiness to build businesses that are more resilient and sustainable,” Anggara said.

Support for recovery efforts has also been bolstered through collaboration with the banking sector. Aryanto Yudho, Assistant Vice President of Bank Mandiri’s Government & Institutional 1 Group, stated that collaboration plays a vital role in supporting community economic recovery. The hope is that this partnership will benefit creative economy players while contributing to the collective effort to revitalize local business activities in Padang Pariaman.

According to a release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, going beyond the delivery of educational material, the initiative equips participants with practical knowledge—ranging from business literacy and awareness regarding funding security to methods for accessing capital. The program is designed with sustainability in mind; following the literacy phase, eligible creative economy players can proceed to mentoring and guidance stages before participating in pitching sessions that connect their businesses with potential partners and funding sources.

The subsequent phase involves impact monitoring to assess business progress and sustainability following the provision of support. This program series was realized through the collaboration of the Ministry of Creative Economy—specifically the Directorate of Access to Funding, Financing, and Investment—Bank Mandiri (via its Government & Institutional 1 Group, Padang Area office, and Lubuk Alung branch), the Padang Pariaman Regency Government, and the West Sumatra Provincial Office of the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
