RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) extended its congratulations on the 24th anniversary of Manggala Agni, the Ministry of Forestry’s forest and land fire brigade. It also expressed appreciation for the dedication of its personnel in mitigating, suppressing, and handling forest and land fires (karhutla) in Indonesia.

Chairperson of Commission IV Titiek Soeharto conveyed the appreciation during a working meeting with the Minister of Forestry to discuss adjustments to the Ministry of Forestry’s 2027 Work Plan and Budget (RKA), Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

“Commission IV of the DPR RI extends its congratulations on the 24th anniversary of Manggala Agni, commemorated every September 13, and expresses its appreciation to all Manggala Agni personnel for their dedication to mitigating, suppressing, and handling forest and land fires in Indonesia,” Titiek said.

Commission IV affirmed the importance of strengthening Manggala Agni and the Fire-Aware Community (MPA) in controlling forest and land fires. Such efforts need to be supported by early mitigation measures, hotspot monitoring, peatland water management, as well as the readiness of firefighting and response equipment in the field.

Commission IV also called for stronger coordination between the central and regional governments, clearer responsibilities for concession holders, contingency mechanisms, and post-fire monitoring. Forest and land fire control efforts should be carried out by optimizing the available budget allocation.

To strengthen its oversight function, Commission IV said it had approved the establishment of a Working Committee (Panja) on Forest and Land Fires on September 15, 2026. The committee is expected to strengthen oversight of policies concerning prevention, mitigation, response, and post-fire management in a more focused and sustainable manner.

During the meeting, Commission IV approved a budget allocation of Rp8.69 trillion for the Ministry of Forestry for fiscal year 2027, or precisely Rp8,692,325,875,000. The allocation is in line with the results of discussions by the DPR RI’s Budget Committee, as conveyed in a letter dated September 9, 2026, with no additional funding.

The budget comprises Rp4.78 trillion for Management Support, Rp3.74 trillion for Sustainable Forest Management, and Rp168.20 billion for Vocational Education and Training.

Commission IV called on the Ministry of Forestry to sharpen its priorities and improve spending efficiency so that the budget delivers ecological, economic, and social benefits. Technical programs are expected to support forest protection, reduce deforestation, restore ecosystems, promote social forestry, empower communities, and increase the added value of forest products.

In accordance with the meeting’s conclusions, Commission IV will submit the results of its discussion on the Ministry of Forestry’s 2027 Work Plan and Budget to the DPR RI’s Budget Committee as material for final determination.
