RRI.CO.ID, Ciamis - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto distributed 160 electric pedicabs to local pedicab drivers in Ciamis Regency. The handover ceremony took place in Ciamis, West Java, on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

The vehicle distribution was conducted alongside the National Solidarity Movement Foundation (YGSN) to assist local workers. The zero-cost assistance targets elderly drivers to reduce physical strain while boosting their daily earning potential.

Regent of Ciamis Herdiat Sunarya, praised the Indonesian President for supporting workers who rely on traditional manual pedicabs. He noted that electric power helps drivers aged 55 and older continue working without extreme physical exertion.

He urged all recipients to properly maintain the vehicles so their families can experience long-term economic benefits. The modern pedicabs are designed to optimize daily operations and directly increase overall family income for recipients.

He strictly warned recipients regarding the proper usage and ownership of the newly distributed electric vehicles. He emphasized that these aid units must remain with the assigned drivers to improve their livelihoods.

“Do not sell, do not pledge, and do not transfer ownership,” he said.

Representative of the National Solidarity Movement Foundation Major General (Ret.) Firman Dahlan stated the national initiative reaches multiple regions. He explained the program concept was developed before President Prabowo Subianto took office to support elderly workers.

He added that direct state assistance lightens daily operational burdens while preserving the working spirit of local citizens. The 160 electric units are expected to enhance driver productivity and improve long-term welfare across Ciamis Regency.
