VP Gibran Urges Indonesian Youth to Uphold National Unity, Embrace AI and Coding

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming received representatives of the Central Executive Board of the Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association (IPNU) at the Vice Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Thursday, September 3, 2026. IPNU is the student wing of Nahdlatul Ulama, one of the world's largest Islamic organizations.
In a statement issued Thursday, the Indonesian Vice Presidential Secretariat said the meeting provided an opportunity for dialogue on various youth and Islamic boarding school (pesantren) issues. Vice President Gibran emphasized the important role of the younger generation in maintaining national unity and cohesion.
"Vice President Gibran gave us a great deal of guidance, the main point being that young people must be able to maintain the unity and integrity of the nation. The country’s various challenges require young people to play a role in finding solutions," IPNU Chairman Muhammad Agil Nuruz Zaman, said in a statement following the meeting.
Beyond national unity, Gibran also highlighted the importance of preparing the younger generation to face technological developments. Students and young people were encouraged to remain open to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and coding.
"Regarding digitalization, young people must be open to it and engage in various areas of digitalization, including AI and coding," Agil said.
Agil also expressed his appreciation for Gibran’s attention in listening to the input and aspirations presented by youth representatives during the meeting. He described the vice president as 'very firm' in addressing the issues raised.
"Vice President Gibran was very firm on various issues and listened to all the concerns and grievances of young people," he said.
