Indonesia Improves Child Protection through SIMEP PA 3.0 Digital System

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) launched the third version of the Child Protection Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting System, known as SIMEP PA 3.0, on Wednesday September 2, 2026. The technology-based system was developed to strengthen oversight of child protection and the fulfillment of children’s rights at both the national and regional levels.

The launch of SIMEP PA 3.0 is part of Indonesia’s efforts to build a more integrated and data-driven child protection system. For KPAI, the use of technology is also important to expand monitoring coverage to areas that cannot yet be directly reached.

KPAI Chairman, Aris Adi Leksono, said technology is one of the strategies being used to ensure that child protection monitoring can reach more regions. He said the system would enable KPAI to assess child protection conditions in areas that have previously been difficult to reach due to limited support.“We hope the monitoring can reach areas that we have not been able to supervise because we cannot visit them directly,” he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Arifah Fauzi, welcomed the launch of SIMEP PA 3.0 as a shared instrument to measure and improve child protection efforts in Indonesia. She said data collected through the system could serve as a basis for more accurate policies and corrective measures.“With SIMEP PA, we have a shared instrument to assess, measure, and improve the implementation of child protection in Indonesia,” Arifah Fauzi said.

SIMEP PA 3.0 monitors various aspects of the fulfillment of children’s rights, including civil rights, education, health, social protection and alternative care, juvenile justice, and cross-sectoral issues. The system also assesses regulations, human resource capacity, budgetary support, and service accountability in child protection.

She also affirmed that the success of SIMEP PA should not be measured only by the amount of data collected, but also by how far the data can drive meaningful change. She said a unified child protection data system could serve as an initial step toward strengthening protection and supporting a better future for Indonesian children.

KPAI hopes ministries, government institutions, and local governments will participate in providing data through SIMEP PA 3.0. The monitoring results are expected to serve as evaluation material and policy recommendations to strengthen Indonesia’s child protection system in a more systematic and equitable manner.
