Widiyanti Directs 2027 Budget to Boost Tourism's Impact on National Economy

RRI.CO.ID, Bali – The Ministry of Tourism is directing its 2027 Work Plan and Budget (RKA) valued at IDR 1.51 trillion toward maximizing the tourism sector's impact on the national economy. The budget also aims to ensure that the benefits of tourism development are increasingly felt by communities across various regions.

Speaking at a working meeting with Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Monday, August 31, 2026, Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, stated that budget discussions are not merely about the total amount. She emphasized the importance of ensuring that every rupiah of state funds translates into programs that are well-targeted, accountable, and subject to joint oversight, thereby delivering maximum benefits to the public.

She confirmed that for 2027, the Ministry has been allocated a budget ceiling of IDR 1,509,057,247,000 (approximately IDR 1.51 trillion). These funds are designated to support the achievement of key performance indicators and address various strategic issues regarding national tourism development.

Several flagship programs have been prepared for 2027, including initiatives focused on enhancing tourism safety, developing tourism villages, promoting quality tourism, "Event by Indonesia," and "Tourism 5.0." Government assistance for improving destination amenities and accessibility is targeted to increase from 92 units in 2026 to 150 units in 2027. Digitalization efforts will also be strengthened through the development of SISPARNAS and JADESTA; targets include compiling data and information on over 6,300 tourism villages within JADESTA and providing data on tourism attractions across 38 provinces via SISPARNAS.

Guided by this policy direction, the Ministry of Tourism targets 17.6–19.1 million foreign tourist visits and 1.28 billion domestic tourist trips by 2027, alongside tourism investments of IDR 71 trillion and tourism foreign exchange earnings of US$ 25.5–28.6 billion. These targets are based on performance figures from the first half of 2026, during which the tourism sector recorded 7.45 million foreign tourist visits, US$ 8.43 billion in foreign exchange earnings, 0.63 billion domestic tourist trips, and IDR 39.68 trillion in tourism investments.

Widiyanti affirmed her commitment to ensuring that all planned programs are executed effectively and accountably to build a resilient national tourism sector. "We are committed to making Indonesia's tourism competitive and sustainable, while increasingly delivering benefits to the community," she said.
