RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government continues to distribute aid to communities affected by the magnitude 7.7 earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). As of August 30, 2026, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has distributed 1,954 tons of emergency supplies through various transportation routes.
Acting Head of the BNPB Center for Disaster Data, Information, and Communication, Berton SP Panjaitan, said the aid had been distributed since August 15 through BNPB posts in Maumere and Labuan Bajo. The supplies were then delivered to affected districts and villages in need.
“From August 15 to 30, 2026, a total of 1,954 tons had been distributed to our two posts in Manggarai, as well as Maumere and Labuan Bajo,” Berton stated at a press conference in Jakarta on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
The aid came from BNPB as well as various donations and was delivered by land, sea, and air. The distribution is aimed at ensuring that the basic needs of earthquake survivors continue to be met during the recovery process.
He said supplies delivered by air included basic necessities, medicines, instant noodles, bottled water, rice, as well as supplies for babies and women. The aid had arrived in Labuan Bajo before being distributed to affected areas.
“We are ensuring that all the needs of the evacuees and survivors affected by the earthquake are properly met,” he said.
In addition to distributing emergency supplies, BNPB continues to verify damaged homes and monitor the restoration of basic public services. The government is ensuring that emergency assistance goes hand in hand with preparations for long-term recovery.
