RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto paid an unannounced visit on Friday evening, August 28, 2026, to meet residents relocating to a newly constructed housing complex built for families previously living along the Senen railway tracks in Central Jakarta.
The housing initiative was launched following a sudden inspection by the President on March 26, 2026, during which he observed residents living for decades in hazardous conditions alongside active rail lines. Developed by state-owned enterprise PT Hutama Karya (Persero) on a 1.61-hectare plot owned by InJourney Airports, the project comprises 324 temporary housing units (huntara).
Each 4.5 x 4.5-meter unit comes furnished with essential amenities, supported by communal spaces, shared kitchens, laundry facilities, separate restrooms, children's play areas, and single-gate security monitoring equipped with CCTV.
President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that providing dignified and secure living environments remains a primary government priority for vulnerable urban communities.
"Tonight, I met with residents in their new home, having previously lived along the railway tracks near Senen Station in Jakarta, may this new residence serve as a more decent, safe, and comfortable place to live for all of these families," the President said in Jakarta on Friday, August 28, 2026, as quoted by Antara. ***
