Prabowo Orders Additional Oxygen for Forest Fire Handling Officers

RRI.CO.ID, Riau - President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has ordered an increase in oxygen supply for personnel handling forest and land fires (karhutla) in Riau. This step is taken to ensure the safety of personnel working in areas affected by smoke and fires.

Prabowo initially received a report of the need for 500 units of oxygen to support the field officers. He then requested that the number be increased to 700 units and sent immediately.

In the meeting on handling forest and land fires at the Aju Post, Riau Province, Pekanbaru City, on Monday, August 24, 2026, Prabowo emphasized that the protection of personnel must be a priority in handling forest and land fires.

"You need 500, Send 500 immediately, If necessary, add more, 700," he said.

The addition of the oxygen supply is intended to support the personnel working in areas affected by smoke and fires. The availability of oxygen has become one of the needs discussed amid efforts to address forest and land fires in the region.

In addition to discussing the needs of the officers, Prabowo also appreciated the forest fire prevention measures taken in Riau through the construction of ponds and barriers to help control the fires.

"Reservoirs and barriers like that. Good. Great," he said.

Prabowo's visit to Riau and South Sumatra is part of a series of direct monitoring of forest fire handling, following his previous visits to West Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan.
