RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The government fully supports the potential for expanding the LaLaLa Fest intellectual property (IP) into international markets. Irene Umar, the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), noted that this music festival strengthens Indonesia's position as a destination for international music performances.

"It is no longer the time for us to feel inferior or think we lack quality or 'prestige'. Indonesia possesses extraordinary, fantastic, and highly marketable creativity. We have a wealth of creative works that can truly be taken anywhere, even abroad," said the Deputy Minister while attending LaLaLa Fest 2026 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (23 August).

The Deputy Minister also commended The Group, the promoter of LaLaLa Fest. She noted that LaLaLa Fest 2026 offers a comprehensive entertainment experience by combining performances from both local and international musicians, while also serving as part of a creative economy ecosystem that brings together innovative works, industry players, communities, and the market.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Monday, 24 August 2026, the event held on 22-23 August featured 32 international musicians, showcasing the strength of its concept and artistic identity. Donny Heru, CEO of The Group and promoter of LaLaLa Fest, stated that the strength of the LaLaLa Fest IP has already attracted attention from international markets.

"In Manila, they (the promoter) did indeed purchase the license from us. We provided the guidelines, the design, and everything else, but they handle the operations and financing. This demonstrates that the creativity and concepts we develop in Indonesia can be taken to other countries. We own the IP and the guidelines, while they manage local execution. Thus, Indonesia is not merely a market; we can also act as owners and licensors of creative IP utilized abroad," Donny explained.

The expansion of the LaLaLa Fest IP to Manila serves as a prime example of Indonesia's growing creative economy and its increasing visibility in international markets. The ability to conceive ideas, build brands, and develop IP adaptable for other countries shows that Indonesian creative economy players have the potential to move beyond being mere consumers; they can become creators and owners of creative economic value in the global marketplace.

"LaLaLa Fest has the potential to become a regional music expo. It demonstrates that we are not just organizing a festival, but are capable of exporting and selling Indonesian IP internationally. In my view, this is the best example of how Indonesia's creative economy can grow and compete on the global stage," he stated.

The Ministry of Creative Economy continues to foster a robust creative economy ecosystem by developing national creative works and IP, ensuring they possess added value and can reach global markets. The success of LaLaLa Fest stands as proof that Indonesian creativity holds immense potential to be transformed into world-class products and experiences, while simultaneously opening new opportunities for Indonesia to gain recognition as an innovative nation capable of creating and exporting IP to international markets.
