RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Member of Indonesia’s House of Representatives, Kamrussamad, said the government’s target of achieving 8% economic growth would not be easily realized. He called for sustained cross-sector collaboration and better government communication to provide the market with greater certainty.
Kamrussamad said the House was currently focused on achieving quality economic growth and the concrete implementation of downstreaming. He expressed hope that Indonesia’s new sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, could address those concerns.
“So far, we have relied on the state budget and investment, both from abroad and domestically. With Danantara as a sovereign wealth fund, we hope it can become a new engine for quality economic growth,” he said before the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) in Jakarta on Friday, August 14, 2026.
He said the House was currently examining four sources of state revenue to achieve 8% economic growth. In addition to the state budget, the sources that could be optimized are foreign direct investment, domestic investment, and the consolidation of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) by Danantara.
“We are asking DIM, Danantara Investment Management, to immediately publish the SOEs' contribution to economic growth,” he said, referring to Danantara Indonesia's subsidiary tasked with optimizing the investment value of the country's state-owned enterprises.
He said the House was encouraging the government to take several measures to accelerate the target. These include improving cross-sector coordination among ministries and government agencies, as well as strengthening government communication to dispel market uncertainty.
“And third is sustainability, so that the government’s policy direction is truly pro-growth, pro-group, pro-jobs, and also pro-business to encourage the business community,” he said.
