Kemenpar Promotes Archipelago Royal Court Culture to Enter ASEAN

The Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, hosted a delegation from the Archipelago Royal Palaces and Indigenous Communities Forum (FSKN) to discuss potential collaborations in developing cultural activities.

The meeting also addressed plans for the ASEAN Royal Palaces and Indigenous Communities Festival (FKMA).

"The Ministry of Creative Economy views royal palaces and indigenous communities as vital components of Indonesia's cultural wealth, holding the potential for continued development within the creative economy ecosystem. Cultural preservation must go hand-in-hand with innovation so that traditional values remain alive while simultaneously generating economic benefits for the community," said Teuku Riefky during the meeting at the Ministry's office in Jakarta on Thursday, 13 August.

FSKN is an indigenous community organization that brings together traditional leaders and representatives from royal palaces and kingdoms across Indonesia.

Established in 2006 and legally recognized, the organization serves as a platform for kings, sultans, senior traditional figures, customary leaders, and royal descendants from various regions of the archipelago.

"We hope that this collaboration with FSKN will expand opportunities for the culture of the archipelago to be recognized, developed, and appreciated. Festivals like FKMA can serve as a pivotal moment to connect Indonesia's cultural diversity with international networks, particularly within the ASEAN region," the Minister stated.

FKMA itself is part of an effort to showcase the diversity of Indonesia's royal palaces and indigenous communities while fostering cultural engagement with indigenous networks across ASEAN.

FSKN Chairman—who is also the King Turikale VIII (Maros), AA Mapparessa—noted that the event serves as a catalyst for building collaboration to advance royal communities throughout the archipelago.
