Prabowo: Democracy Must Materialize Prosperity for the People

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, emphasized that the government’s duty is not merely to keep the Republic of Indonesia standing, but to ensure that the country can deliver prosperity for all its people.

“Our task is not merely to keep the republic standing. Our task is to ensure that this republic succeeds as a nation,” Prabowo said in his state address at the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD RI) at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Prabowo said the Republic of Indonesia was established 81 years ago not merely so that the state could exist, but so that the people would never feel alone and would always feel the government’s presence by their side.

According to the President, the government must ensure that Indonesia succeeds as a nation by having the capacity to be present among the people and deliver prosperity to all Indonesians.

He also called on all Indonesians to prove to the world that Indonesian democracy is capable of delivering prosperity for the people. “Let us prove to the world that our democracy can deliver prosperity,” President Prabowo said.

The Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI were held as part of the state agenda to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The sessions included the presentation of reports on the performance of state institutions and the President’s state address.

The government also presented a video highlighting its achievements as part of the proceedings. This year’s 81st Independence Anniversary carries the theme, “A Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.”
