RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto is optimistic that Indonesia's economic growth could reach six percent by the end of 2026. He made the statement during the 2026 Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representatives Council (DPD) in Jakarta on Friday August 14, 2026.

He said the optimism was supported by Indonesia's continued economic growth despite global uncertainty. He noted that the economy grew 5.61 percent in the first quarter of 2026 and 5.45 percent in the first half of the year.

"This is the highest first-quarter and first-half growth in the past 13 years," Prabowo said. He added, "With the right policies, rational policies, policies that use common sense, I am confident that our economic growth at the end of this year can reach six percent."

The President also said investment in Indonesia continued to grow amid strong public confidence in the government. Investment realization reached 1,931 trillion rupiah, or around 120.7 billion US dollars, in 2025, creating more than 2.7 million jobs.

Meanwhile, investment realization in the first half of 2026 reached 1,010 trillion rupiah, or around 63.1 billion US dollars. The investment generated more than 1.4 million jobs, according to figures presented by the President.

However, Prabowo stressed that economic growth and investment are not the government's ultimate goals. He said every investment must deliver tangible benefits to the people, particularly those at the lower end of the income scale.

"Every rupiah of investment must create jobs, must improve the quality of life of our people, especially those at the bottom," Prabowo said. He added, "That is the orientation of the government I lead."

Prabowo also reminded the government that Indonesia, as a G20 member, should not allow its people to go hungry. He stressed that economic growth must go hand in hand with improvements in people's welfare so that development can be felt by all segments of society.
