RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has expanded its school revitalization target to nearly 80,000 schools in 2026. The move is part of the government’s mid-year adjustment to its programs and budget allocations.

Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, said the government had initially targeted the revitalization of 17,000 schools this year. The target has now been increased by another 60,000 schools through the reallocation of budget funds.

“This is also the result of our continued efforts to identify budget allocations that are considered less productive and reallocate them to programs that have a much greater impact,” Prasetyo Hadi said in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

He explained that the budget reallocation had enabled the government to direct resources toward programs considered more beneficial to the public. With the additional target, the government expects to complete the revitalization of nearly 80,000 schools this year.

“That is why we are now able to add 60,000 schools to the previous target of only 17,000,” he said. “So, a, pproximately, this year we will be able to complete the revitalization of nearly 80,000 schools.”

The increase in the school revitalization target was also directed by President Prabowo Subianto. The decision was made after the government considered data and the condition of schools in various regions.

The revitalization program is expected to improve the quality of educational facilities across Indonesia. The government considers better school infrastructure an important part of improving education services for students in different regions.

For next year, the government has also set a larger revitalization target. In 2027, it aims to revitalize a total of 100,000 schools across Indonesia.
