Wonosobo Balloon Festival Encourages Public Role in Government Programs

RRI.CO.ID, Wonosobo - Forty giant hot-air balloons enlivened the Asta Cita Balloon Festival at the Wonosobo Town Square in Central Java on Sunday August 9, 2026. Beyond entertainment, the festival served as a creative platform to promote several priority programs of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration to the public.

The balloons displayed messages promoting government programs, including the Free Nutritious Meals Program, Merah Putih Village Cooperatives, and the People’s School Program. Presenting these messages through a creative public event provided a way to bring information about government policies closer to local communities.

Environment Minister, Muhammad Jumhur Hidayat, called on the public to take part in overseeing the implementation of government programs. He said public involvement was needed to ensure that the programs achieve their objectives and benefit communities.

“It means that we are protecting our country, and that is what we need to do together,” Muhammad Jumhur Hidayat said. He affirmed that citizens can contribute by carrying out their respective roles while also monitoring the government.

He said public oversight was important because the government could also make mistakes in implementing policies. He said citizens have a responsibility to help ensure that government policies remain on the right track and comply with the Constitution.

“That is what makes a good voter and a good citizen: not allowing things to simply proceed as they wish, but ensuring they remain within the framework established by our Constitution,” Jumhur said. His statement underscored the importance of public participation in overseeing the implementation of government policies.

Chairman of the Asta Cita Balloon Festival Committee in Wonosobo, Mantap Abdul Goni, said the event was expected to bring government programs closer to communities through creative and participatory activities. He also said direct public involvement could strengthen communication between the government and citizens.

The Asta Cita Balloon Festival in Wonosobo also served as a symbol of public support for President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita agenda. At the same time, the event highlighted the importance of public participation and community oversight in monitoring the implementation of government policies.
