RRI.CO.ID, Aceh – The government continues to accelerate post‑disaster infrastructure recovery in Aceh. Vice President Gibran Rakabuming has affirmed that infrastructure development and the restoration of basic services remain priorities to ensure community activities can quickly return to normal.
VP Gibran delivered the statement while inspecting post‑disaster recovery efforts in Aceh on Thursday, August 6, 2026. He said the visit was intended to ensure that the recovery process aligns with the needs of affected communities.
“My presence in Aceh today is to observe conditions on the ground firsthand and monitor the progress of ongoing post‑disaster recovery efforts. At the same time, I am here to listen directly to the aspirations, input, and needs of the affected community,” VP Gibran said, as quoted on the Vice President’s official website.
He added that the government is still completing various recovery tasks and remains open to public input and criticism.
During the visit, VP Gibran also inspected the reconstruction of the Teupin Mane Bridge in Juli Subdistrict, Bireuen Regency. The inspection aimed to ensure that the infrastructure recovery project is progressing according to schedule.
Head of the Aceh National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN), Zulkarnain, reported that construction progress has reached approximately 45 percent.
“This bridge was previously severed by a natural disaster, cutting off access between Bireuen and Takengon. We are now rebuilding it,” he said.
He said the connection of the bridge structure is targeted for completion by the end of August 2026, with the bridge expected to become operational in October 2026.
“God willing, we will be able to connect the bridge structure by the end of August, and -- God willing -- it will be operational by October,” he said.
VP Gibran emphasized that while construction is being accelerated, attention must still be paid to construction quality to ensure the infrastructure is safe and resilient against potential disasters.
He also appreciated the synergy between the central and regional administrations, the TNI, the National Police, and other parties involved in accelerating recovery efforts in Aceh. ***
