Communications Minister Calls for Unity During 81st Independence Celebrations

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia's Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, has called for the commemoration of Indonesia's 81st independence anniversary to serve as a momentum for strengthening national unity. She made this statement while opening the "Komdigi Carnival 2026" event in Central Jakarta on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

According to her, the history of Indonesia's independence was born from a spirit of unity, and that value must continue to serve as the foundation for the government's work today. She emphasized that without unity, the independence of a nation with a population of over 270 million people would never have been realized.

She urged all work units within her ministry to set aside sectoral egos in favor of achieving shared goals. "We must no longer work in silos," she stated.

The Minister also encouraged unit leaders to set an example in fostering inter-departmental cooperation. She noted that independence is not merely something to be achieved but must also be preserved through sustained, daily collaboration.

Beyond the theme of unity, the minister also acknowledged the hard work of employees whose contributions are not always visible to the public. She assured them that such selfless dedication would not go unnoticed by the ministry's leadership.

The Komdigi Carnival 2026 was designed not merely as a series of competitions, but as a space to strengthen communication among employees during the ministry's transformation period. The event involves leadership and staff from all work units, featuring sports and arts competitions that will run until the peak of the upcoming independence celebrations.

Meutya hopes that the spirit of togetherness fostered here will not remain a mere formality but will instead serve as new energy to improve the quality of public services. "Whoever wins, it is a victory for us all," she said.
