RRI.CO.ID, Surakarta – Manpower Minister, Yassierli, outlined various programs for worker protection and competency development while opening the FSP PPMI SPSI National Congress in Surakarta, Central Java, on Saturday, August 1, 2026. These measures are intended to provide legal certainty and welfare for Indonesian workers amid the challenges of the global market.

The Minister stated that regular dialogue between the government, employers, and workers is key to successful industrial relations. According to him, strong collaboration can create a productive and sustainable work environment.

“Good industrial relations can only be achieved if the government, employers, and workers continue to engage in dialogue and build mutual trust in finding solutions to every labor-related challenge,” Yassierli said.

The government continues to strengthen workers’ welfare by improving the Job Loss Insurance Program (JKP) for those affected by layoffs. In addition to transitional financial assistance, this program provides skills training for workers.

Other regulations introduced include the Domestic Workers Protection Act, holiday bonuses for online ride-hailing drivers, and the ratification of ILO Convention No. 188 for fishing vessel crews. These efforts are accompanied by a national apprenticeship program aimed at aligning workers’ skills with the needs of modern industry.

“We want every Indonesian worker to have the opportunity to improve their competencies so they are better prepared to face changes in the world of work and become more competitive,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the President’s Special Advisor on Labor and Workers’ Welfare, Said Iqbal, emphasized the importance of strengthening labor organizations from within. The goal is for labor unions to be able to effectively advocate for their members’ rights.

“Strong labor organizations are a vital pillar in advocating for workers’ rights while maintaining healthy industrial relations,” Said stated.
