RRI.CO.ID, Ternate - Indonesia's North Maluku Provincial Government is strengthening immigration services and foreign citizen monitoring amid growing investment activities. The cooperation was discussed during a meeting in Ternate on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

The coordination involved the North Maluku Immigration Regional Office and the provincial government. The two sides agreed to improve public services and strengthen integrated supervision of foreign nationals.

Head of the North Maluku Immigration Regional Office, Victor Manurung and Deputy Governor of North Maluku, Sarbin Sehe, discussed efforts to improve immigration governance. The meeting also addressed plans to expand immigration services in the province.

One key discussion was the proposed establishment of an Immigration Office in South Halmahera Regency. The office aims to bring immigration services closer to communities and respond to increasing foreign worker mobility.

The two sides also highlighted the importance of strengthening the Foreigners Monitoring Team (Timpora). The integrated monitoring system is considered important as investment activities and foreign presence increase in several industrial areas.

North Maluku Immigration Regional Office said it remains committed to improving passport and residence permit services. The services will continue to be developed through faster, easier, and more transparent procedures.

Sarbin Sehe welcomed the initiative to strengthen immigration cooperation. He said the provincial government supports efforts to improve services and ensure orderly foreign citizen supervision.

The provincial government is also preparing support for land allocation to develop the Immigration Ministry office in Sofifi. The facility is expected to support institutional development as government offices gradually move to the provincial capital.
