RRI.CO.ID, Pangkalan Brandan - At least 70 percent of land acquisition for the Pangkalan Brandan-Langsa Toll Road, a section of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road connecting the provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra, is already done as members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) reviewed the road site on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. The 73-kilometer highway is set to begin construction in early 2027.

Deputy Chairperson of the House's Commission VI, Andre Rosiade, who led the review, stated that they wanted to ensure the readiness of this national strategic project, particularly land acquisition. Rosiade said that the toll road would be a priority after the current toll road construction reached Pangkalan Brandan, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra.

"We checked at this rest area. We held a meeting to review the plans for the continuation of the Binjai-Langsa toll road, which has now reached Pangkalan Brandan, so the continuation is from Pangkalan Brandan to Langsa," Andre explained in Langkat, as quoted by dpr.go.id.

"We checked earlier, of the 73 kilometers of land acquisition, 70 percent is already complete and hopefully, in early 2027, the Pangkalan Brandan-Langsa toll road can be built by Hutama Karya (a state-owned construction company)," he continued.

Andre, of President Prabowo Subianto-led Gerindra Party, emphasized that Hutama Karya has been mandated to implement the project. He stated that the state-owned construction company plays a strategic role in supporting the national infrastructure development acceleration, including the toll road project, part of connectivity development in Sumatra.

Andre also appreciated the contribution of state-owned construction companies in post-disaster management. He stated that state-owned enterprises have been at the forefront, from the emergency response period through the rehabilitation and reconstruction process.

"State-owned enterprises serve as the frontline. So, since a natural disaster occurs, these state-owned construction companies are the first to assist with rehabilitation during the disaster. After that, they move on to the next stage, assisting the government with rehabilitation and reconstruction," Andre said.

"Thank God, I think the state-owned construction companies have already reported on their performance progress, and I ask them to coordinate directly with the Deputy Governor to report on their progress," he concluded, referring to Deputy Governor of North Sumatra, Surya.
