RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta — The Indonesian House of Representatives has officially passed the Bill on the Indonesian International Financial Center into law. The bill was approved during a plenary session chaired by House Speaker Puan Maharani at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

The decision was made after all participants approved the passage of the bill. “Now, I ask all participants in the session once again: Can the Bill on the Indonesian International Financial Center be approved for enactment into law?” Puan asked. The participants responded with a united “yes.”

Delivering the government’s final statement, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the establishment of the center is a strategic step to strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global financial system. He noted that creating a dedicated financial hub will help attract long-term investment and boost national development.

Purbaya explained, “The Bill on the Indonesian International Financial Center was initiated based on the realization that, as the largest country in Southeast Asia and a member of the G20, it is time for Indonesia to have its own financial center that is credible, independent, trustworthy, and globally competitive.”

According to him, the new law is not intended to replace the existing national financial system. Instead, it aims to complement it with an integrated, world-class financial ecosystem.

“The presence of this law is not intended to replace the existing domestic financial system, but rather to complement it with an integrated, world-class ecosystem,” he said.

The Minister explained that the International Financial Center will be developed based on three main pillars. First, attracting sustainable inflows of foreign capital and high-quality portfolio investment. Second, building a modern financial services ecosystem supported by the latest technology. Third, creating job opportunities for Indonesia’s top talent while encouraging the transfer of knowledge and expertise in the financial sector.
