RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - State-owned electricity company PT PLN (Persero) held an event titled “Sustainability Day 2026: Empowering Climate Resilience” at its headquarters in South Jakarta on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The event was organized to commemorate Earth Day and Kartini Day, while also serving as a strategic platform to enhance cross-sector collaboration in promoting climate resilience and disaster risk reduction through sustainable development.

In his opening remarks, PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasojo, conveyed that the event aims to encourage better alignment between government policies and energy sector programs. The focus is particularly on strengthening the resilience of electricity infrastructure against the impacts of climate change and hydrometeorological disasters.

The forum also provided a space for stakeholders to exchange best practices and innovative approaches in advancing a sustainable energy transition that is resilient to disaster risks. Participants highlighted the importance of integrating energy sector development planning with disaster management and climate change policies at both national and regional levels.

Key speakers at the event included PLN’s Director of Technology, Engineering, and Sustainability Evy Haryadi; Assistant Deputy for Disaster Risk Reduction at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Andre Notohamijoyo; UN Women Representative Ulziisuren Jamsran; and Indonesia Country Director of Agence Française de Développement (AFD), Yann Martres.

Meanwhile, Andre Notohamijoyo, emphasized that climate change has intensified both the frequency and severity of disasters, making integrated and anticipatory actions across sectors increasingly necessary. He highlighted the critical role of the electricity sector as essential infrastructure that must remain reliable, even during emergencies and post-disaster situations. Collaboration with PLN, therefore, is seen as a strategic step in strengthening national resilience to climate change and disasters.

The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture continues to promote the Kita Tangguh program as part of its disaster risk reduction efforts involving multiple stakeholders. In this context, strong synergy between the government and PLN is crucial to ensuring the continuity of essential public services.

During the event, PT PLN (Persero) also presented various sustainability initiatives, including efforts to enhance resilient power infrastructure, expand renewable energy development, and implement Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in its operations.
