RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The government is tightening oversight of foreign nationals in Indonesia to strengthen monitoring amid rising global mobility.

Deputy for Foreign Policy Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mohammad K. Koba, stressed that stronger oversight of foreign nationals is essential for maintaining national stability.

"We will implement increasingly robust and integrated monitoring. We hope this system can operate more optimally and support national stability," Koba said during a coordination meeting organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polkam) in Tangerang on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Deputy for Communications at Kemenko Polkam, Eko Dono Indarto, highlighted the need for an integrated monitoring system that adapts to technological advancements.

"Monitoring foreign nationals must be treated as a national strategic issue. This requires strengthening a data-based, integrated system with real-time monitoring," he said.

Through the meeting, Kemenko Polkam encouraged greater cross-sector collaboration and the enhancement of integrated information systems.

The government also emphasized the importance of optimizing institutional capacity. These measures are expected to create a more effective and responsive monitoring framework. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
