Ministry of Hajj Supports Grand Design for Hajj Economy Ecosystem

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the Hajj economic ecosystem. The statement was delivered during the Kick-Off Meeting for the Preparation of the Grand Design for Hajj and Umrah Economic Ecosystem Development organized by the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), Thursday, April 16, 2026.

The initiative marks the initial step in drafting a national strategic framework. It aims to optimize the economic potential of Hajj and Umrah sectors.

These sectors are considered strategic due to their large transaction value. They also involve extensive industry chains both domestically and internationally.

The grand design aligns with the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025–2029. It also supports the President’s priority program on developing Hajj Villages.

The program is expected to expand economic benefits for Indonesian communities. It encourages participation from national businesses, especially more than 64 million MSMEs.

Director General of Hajj and Umrah Economic Ecosystem Development ,Jaenal Effendi, highlighted this momentum as strategic. He stressed the need to strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global Hajj supply chain.

He then delivered a statement emphasizing domestic value creation and business participation. The following remarks underline the importance of empowering national industries.

“The development of the Hajj and Umrah economic ecosystem must increase domestic added value and strengthen the role of national businesses in the global supply chain,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of cross-sector collaboration to ensure integrated policy implementation. Strong synergy is needed to ensure policies produce measurable economic impact.

Besides, he further highlighted that collaboration among stakeholders plays a crucial role in achieving broader outcomes. The following statement emphasizes the expected impact on services and national growth.

“With strong collaboration among stakeholders, the Hajj economic ecosystem is expected to not only improve service quality but also contribute significantly to national economic growth,” he added.
