RRI.CO.ID, Yogyakarta - The Indonesian government is strengthening paralegal collaboration to expand inclusive access to justice. The Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, Arifah Fauzi made the statement during the 80th anniversary of Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in Yogyakarta on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

She affirmed the importance of collaboration. She highlighted the role of Muslimat NU paralegals in reaching women and children, especially as legal aid access remains limited at the community level.

She noted that Yogyakarta has strong potential as a center of education and social movements. This position can support efforts to strengthen paralegal roles more effectively across communities.

“Yogyakarta has great strength as a center of education, culture, and social movements. This becomes strategic capital to strengthen the role of Muslimat NU paralegals to be more responsive and adaptive,” she said.

She stressed that strengthening paralegal capacity must involve cross-sector collaboration. This includes partnerships with local governments, service institutions, and civil society organizations.

“Paralegals are not only legal assistants, but also agents of change who build awareness, prevent violence, and strengthen family resilience,” she said.

The minister also encouraged Muslimat NU members to take strategic roles in society. This includes building quality families and improving digital literacy, as well as strengthening social solidarity amid global challenges.

Meanwhile, Head of the Social Welfare Bureau of the Yogyakarta Regional Secretariat, Faishol Muslim, representing the Governor, said Muslimat NU has shown consistent contributions over eight decades. Its programs provide real benefits and promote moderate Islamic values.

He emphasized the importance of family as the foundation of the nation. Women, especially mothers, play a central role in shaping future generations with values of tolerance and strong character.

Head of the National Law Development Agency, Constantinus, highlighted inclusive justice strategies. He stressed the importance of a people-centered approach to expand access to justice.

“A people-centered justice approach is a strategic step to ensure more equitable access to justice,” he said.

The Indonesian government continues to promote inclusive legal access through community-based approaches. Strengthening paralegals is expected to improve grassroots services and support fair justice for all citizens.
