RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming has responded to the upcoming trial in the acid attack case against activist Andrie Yunus, stressing that the proceedings must not be held behind closed doors.

“Justice must be truly present in the community. The legal process must be honest, open, and accountable,” VP Gibran said in a written statement received by RRI on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

He emphasized that the administration under President Prabowo Subianto is committed to strengthening a judicial system that is fair and reliable. To that end, he proposed the inclusion of ad hoc judges with professional expertise in the trial.

“The direct participation of experts with proven track records and integrity as ad hoc judges in the acid attack trial against Mr. Andrie Yunus is crucial to maintaining public trust and the sanctity of the law,” he said.

The Vice President also hopes that justice will be served in the case involving the KontraS activist. “We want justice not only to be upheld but also to be believed by the public,” he added.

Earlier, the Indonesian Military Police Center (Puspom) transferred case files of four suspects in the attempted murder of Andrie Yunus to the Military Auditor on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

“The transfer of the files, suspects, and evidence has been submitted to Otmil II-07 Jakarta. The files will then be examined for completeness, both formal and material requirements,” said Maj. Gen. Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, Head of the Information Center at TNI Headquarters, in a written statement on Tuesday.

He explained that once the files are declared complete, the judicial process will proceed to Military Court II-08 Jakarta. “The four suspects transferred are NDP, SL, BHW, and ES, along with the evidence,” Aulia said.

He added that the transfer demonstrates the TNI’s commitment to professional, open, and accountable law enforcement. “It also reflects firmness in taking action against any criminal acts committed by TNI soldiers,” he stated. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
