RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Culture keeps on fostering the national film ecosystem through closer collaboration with state-owned film company PT Produksi Film Negara (PFN). The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to developing a more integrated and sustainable film industry.

The move was highlighted during a meeting between Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon and PFN President Director, Riefian Fajarsyah, in Jakarta, Wednesday, April 1, 2026. The discussion focused on aligning government programs with PFN’s evolving role in supporting the film industry.

The Ministry also underscored that various instruments have been prepared to support the growth of the national film sector. These include talent management programs, funding support, and facilitation for filmmakers to participate in international film festivals.

“We want to synchronize what we are doing with PFN so that the national film ecosystem becomes stronger,” Minister Fadli Zon stated. He said that Indonesia’s presence in the global film industry needs to be further strengthened through integrated support.

Meanwhile, PFN is currently undergoing institutional transformation to redefine its role in the industry. The company aims to position itself as a facilitator and catalyst rather than a competitor to private production houses.

“We want to position PFN appropriately in the industry, not as a competitor, but as a facilitator for Indonesian filmmakers,” Riefian Fajarsyah. This approach is expected to create a more collaborative environment within the national film sector.

In addition, PFN plans to develop its office complex in East Jakarta into a movie creative hub. The facility will include training centers, film certification programs, production studios, post-production facilities, and co-working spaces for filmmakers.

The Ministry also highlighted the importance of preserving Indonesia’s film heritage through digitalization and restoration efforts. Both parties agreed to strengthen collaboration to ensure the sustainability of the film ecosystem while promoting Indonesia’s cultural identity on the global stage.
