RRI.CO.ID, Denpasar — The Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation conducted air transport monitoring at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport from March 15–17, 2026, to ensure flight services run safely, securely, and comfortably ahead of the Nyepi Day and Eid al-Fitr 2026 holidays.

“I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Regional Airport Authority Office IV, serves as the main air gateway for the public and tourists traveling home or vacationing in Bali. Therefore, monitoring air transport is essential to ensure airlines comply with applicable regulations,” said Head of the Regional Airport Authority Office IV Bali, Cecep Kurniawan, in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.

Cecep explained that the monitoring was carried out by Air Transport Inspectors, covering several aspects, including flight approval, minimum service standards for air passengers, as well as delay management and flight cancellations.

As part of the oversight, the Directorate General sampled airlines Garuda Indonesia and Citilink. In terms of service, the monitoring focused on ensuring airlines fulfill passenger rights, including providing clear, accurate, and timely information, availability of service personnel, and readiness of facilities and procedures from departure to arrival.

“In the event of delays, airlines must prepare personnel with full authority to make decisions in the field, act with empathy, and provide convenience for passengers to rearrange their travel plans, as well as offer compensation in accordance with applicable regulations,” Cecep said.

According to data from the 2026 Eid Transportation Post at Ngurah Rai Airport, aircraft movements during March 13–17, 2026, reached 1,842 flights, an increase of 8.36 percent compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, passenger numbers totaled 306,749, up 3.03 percent year-on-year. The data shows that Bali is one of the favorite destinations for the public during the 2026 Eid holiday, particularly for air travelers.

"The Regional Airport Authority Office IV Bali will continue to coordinate with relevant stakeholders such as the military, police, AirNav Indonesia, Immigration Office, airport operators, and air transport business entities to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of flight operations at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport during the 2026 Eid transportation period,” Cecep added.
