RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Government, through the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, has reaffirmed its full readiness for the 1447 Hijri/2026 Hajj season. Amidst the volatile security dynamics in the Middle East, the government ensures that all crisis management scenarios have been meticulously prepared to protect the pilgrims.

Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, detailed these preparations during a working meeting with Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 11, 2026. He affirmed that in crisis situations, the government strictly adheres to several fundamental principles, ranging from precautionary measures to public transparency.

"Pilgrims' safety is our top priority, along with prudence in decision-making, close coordination with the Saudi Arabian government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, airlines, and international authorities, as well as readiness in mitigating transport and security risks, and ensuring transparent information for the public and the pilgrims," Irfan stated.

As of March 10, 2026, technical preparations in Saudi Arabia are reportedly nearing completion. The Ministry noted that accommodation in Makkah and Madinah is 100% secured, while the visa issuance process has reached 97.58%, or equivalent to 198,410 pilgrims ready for departure.

Regarding the escalation of regional conflicts affecting air transportation, the Ministry has prepared an "air bridge" scenario. This plan includes rerouting flights away from conflict zones by utilizing a southern route via the Indian Ocean, although this may potentially increase travel time and operational costs.

"The core principle in developing these scenarios is to maintain the safety and security of Hajj pilgrims as the highest priority. This is in line with the President's directive to ensure security for all our pilgrims," he said.

The government continues to urge Umrah and Hajj travel organizers to keep educating pilgrims on the latest conditions. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah remains committed to acting as a "risk navigator" to ensure that the first departure on April 22 proceeds smoothly and safely.
