RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and the Jakarta Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise have successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle several thousand ecstasy pills.

BNN's Acting Deputy for Eradication, Brig. Gen. Pol. Roy Hardi Siahaan stated that the narcotics were sent from Luxembourg and controlled by an international network.

“I say it was an international network because the package was labeled as coming from Luxembourg,” Roy Hardi said in a press statement at the Jakarta Regional Customs Office on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

The discovery began when customs officers became suspicious of a package labeled as a wedding dress. During a thorough inspection, they found pills in the lining of the package.

After coordinating with the BNN, officers revealed that the package was to be sent to the Cibatu area, South Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java. During the operation, officers arrested a man identified as AFZ and confiscated 4,080 tablets from him.

Based on laboratory test results, the tablets contained a class 1 narcotic, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), the main active ingredient in ecstasy. The total weight of the evidence was 1,907.2 grams, with an estimated economic value of around IDR 1.63 billion (approx. USD 97,070.09).

Roy Hardi added that the BNN will issue a wanted list to track down the controllers of this international narcotics network, once sufficient identity and evidence have been obtained.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Customs Chief Hendri Darnadi emphasized that the disclosure is part of Customs’ duties. “Protecting the community from the circulation of illegal and dangerous goods,” he said.
