Syarla Marz Explores Parting Ways in "Putar Arah"

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian singer Syarla Marz has returned with a new single titled “Putar Arah.” Released last August, the song tells a story about the courage to let go of a relationship when two people realize that their feelings and goals are no longer heading in the same direction.

In the latest episode of The Session, RRI Voice of Indonesia’s music program, Syarla shared the story behind the song. She said “Putar Arah” was written by Barsena Bestandhi and tells the story of two people who have been in a relationship for a long time but eventually realize that they cannot find common ground.

“The song tells the story of two people who have been in a relationship for a long time but cannot find a way forward. They may have differences in religion, social status, goals, and other things. Eventually, they decide to part ways, but on good terms,” Syarla said.

This story forms the basis of “Putar Arah,” which portrays separation without anger or regret. Syarla, an Indonesian Idol 2023 alumna, explained that the two people in the song choose to end their relationship after realizing that staying together would no longer lead them toward the same goals.

The title “Putar Arah” also carries a personal meaning for Syarla. She explained that it refers to the decision not to return to memories and a relationship that has already been left behind.

“‘Putar Arah’ means not wanting to repeat or turn back toward the memories that already exist,” Syarla said.

“Putar Arah” is one of Syarla’s latest works, carrying a story about relationships, differences, and the process of letting go. The song offers listeners a perspective on accepting that a relationship may come to an end when two people have chosen different paths.

Syarla also invited listeners to check out “Putar Arah,” which was released last month on digital streaming platforms. The song, produced by Adrian Rahmat Purwanto, is also accompanied by a lyric video available on the HITS Records YouTube channel.
