Ongky Muntazar Explores Betrayal in "Berkecai-Kecai"

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesian singer Ongky Muntazar returns with “Berkecai-Kecai" ("Shattered"), his latest dangdut single exploring the pain of discovering dishonesty within a relationship. Written by ARSHA, the song follows someone struggling to accept that the person they love has betrayed their feelings.

The song captures feelings of disappointment, pain, and anger after someone realizes their love are not truly valued. Through its emotional lyrics, “Berkecai-Kecai” portrays the struggle of someone dealing with the devastating consequences of betrayal.

Speaking on a recent episode of Voice of Indonesia’s music program The Session, Ongky explained that the song marks his first dedicated dangdut single. He said ARSHA, a composer who previously collaborated with him, offered the song before they developed it together.

He hopes “Berkecai-Kecai” can reach both dangdut listeners and people who do not usually listen to dangdut music. He has performed the song several times during on-air and off-air appearances while promoting its release to audiences.

Ongky’s musical journey began through singing competitions, including Bintang Radio RRI, where he won first place for Jakarta in 2019. He later participated in several competitions before joining Kontes Swara Bintang singing contest on MNCTV in 2023.

The singer eventually won the contest, introducing him more deeply to dangdut through the competition’s musical concept. However, he continued releasing non-dangdut songs afterward, having previously released approximately seven singles before embracing dangdut.

As the competition later shifted toward full dangdut music, Ongky decided to challenge himself by recording his first dedicated dangdut single. “After the competition ended, I continued releasing non-dangdut songs. Then, as the competition evolved into a fully dangdut competition, I decided to challenge myself by singing dangdut,” he said.

“Berkecai-Kecai” is now available on digital streaming platforms, including Spotify, JOOX, and Apple Music. Its music video is also available on YouTube, while Ongky continues sharing updates about the song through social media.
